Western Colorado Chorale's History

In 1985, Dr. Monte Atkinson organized the Western Colorado Chorale, a group of approximately 40 singers. The Chorale’s mission was to perform choral repertoire of the highest quality in the Grand Valley community. Our passion for this mission is what drives us today.

The Chorale has performed such masterworks as Bach’s B minor Mass, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Durufle’s Requiem, and Haydn’s Creation, among many others. The Chorale’s concerts also highlight more modern literature and explore hidden
gems of choral music in their Fall and Holiday concerts. Members of the Chorale have also traveled to sing in Carnegie Hall several times.

The Western Colorado Chorale is a complementary organization to the Grand Junction Musical Arts Association and co-sponsored by Colorado Mesa University. It is managed by a Board of Directors.
